The Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards 2022 have announced the shortlisted photos for the competition. There are 40 works selected from thousands of entries submitted by both professional and amateur photographers around the world.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards was co-founded in 2015 by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam, who wanted to create a competition that focused on the light-hearted, humorous side of wildlife photography but also had the important role of promoting wildlife conservation at its heart.
To achieve that goal, the competition supports a sustainable conservation organisation each year. Over 29 years, it has delivered £20 million to more than 200 conservationists in 80 countries. In 2022, it will be the Whitley Fund for Nature, a UK-based charity that supports conservation leaders working in their countries around the world.
This year’s finalists included a panda waving at the camera, a fox winking, a squirrel “flying” through the air, and a zebra “farting.” Here are the finalists:
