The 2022 Funny Wildlife Photo Contest has started and is accepting entries. This year’s judges are ready to select your hilarious photos and videos. Last year’s contests featured extremely funny foxes, ‘bomb’ squirrels and a monkey reading the newspaper… lots of interesting surprises, who knows what the 2022 contest might bring…
Despite the pandemic, last year’s competition received a record number of entries. The judges were impressed with the incredibly high standard and genuinely funny images submitted, so hopes are high for this year too.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are open to everyone from amateurs to seasoned professionals, and it doesn’t matter what you shoot with; it could be a top-of-the-line Canon EOS R5 or even an iPhone 11 Pro, as long as it brings a chuckle.
Launched in 2015 by co-founders Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam (who also runs the Comedy Pet Photo Awards), the competition aims to take a light-hearted approach to photography that finds the funny moments in life that make people smile.
The competition is not only a great deal of fun, but it also benefits wildlife conservation projects. Each year, the Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards selects a sustainable conservation organization to support, and this year it’s the Whitley Fund for Nature – a UK-based charity that supports conservation leaders working in their home countries.
Entries can be entered into one of seven categories including Aerial, Terrestrial, Underwater, Video, Junior & Portfolio and judged by an experienced judging panel of comedians, wildlife experts, renowned photographers and wildlife conservation enthusiasts.
The closing date for entries is 1 September 2022 and entry to the competition is free! Prizes include a memorable safari trip to the Masaai Mara in Kenya, a handmade trophy, the prestigious title of Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year and some camera accessories.
