Taylor Swift has just finished the European leg of The Eras Tour with 5 “sold out” shows at Wembley Stadium, attracting nearly half a million spectators to the capital London. Although the show ended successfully, the “ghost” of 3 shows being canceled due to terrorism in Vienna (Austria) still remains. Speaking about her feelings after the three shows in Austria were cancelled, she said: “ The cancellation of the shows in Vienna was devastating. The reason for the cancellation put me in a whole new state of fear, as well as a huge sense of guilt because so many people had planned to go to those shows (…) I was so happy with the love and solidarity I saw from the fans who came together…”
As for the reason for deciding to stay silent and not speak out, Taylor Swift said that she kept silent to protect the audience at the London show, which had 92,000 spectators each night, and that she waited until the series of nights ended before speaking out for no other reason than that. “I decided that all of my energy had to be focused on protecting the nearly half a million people who came to see my show in London because of me. My team and I have been working together with the stadium staff and the British government every day to pursue that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they have done for us.
LET ME BE CLEAR: I wouldn’t talk about something publicly if I thought doing so might provoke people who wanted to harm the fans who came to see my shows! In cases like this, “silence” is really about showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at the right time. My priority was to finish the European tour safely and it’s a relief to be able to say we did that.
