Taylor Swift is known for her generosity, not just with her friends but fans as well.
Her latest act of kindness: donating $50,000 to a fan with cancer.
Dedicated Swiftie 11-year-old Naomi Oakes, who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia last month, was devastated to learn her six-to-nine-month, in-patient treatment would mean she would miss the singer’s concert in Phoenix, Arizona, in August. So loved ones posted a video of little Naomi dancing to her new fight song, Swift’s hit “Bad Blood,” hoping the singer would post a #TeamNaomi message on Instagram.
Of course, Swift did much more than that. She gave a whopping $50,000 to Naomi’s Go Fund Me page set up by her uncle, far exceeding the family’s $30,000 goal to help pay for medical expenses.
Swift, who revealed in April that her mom was battling cancer, also left a personal message to her young fan.
“To the beautiful and brave Naomi,” she wrote. “I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”
Naomi’s uncle Tuesday posted a video of his niece’s reaction to Swift’s generosity.
“I can barely breathe,” Naomi gasped, wiping away tears.
Naomi is not the only recipient of Swift’s largesse. Here are some others:
Swift doesn’t just give money, she gives advice, too.
When a male Swiftie, who goes by the Tumblr username Swiftromantics, asked the singer’s opinion Tuesday on whether he should wear a tie or bow tie to his prom, Swift responded.
“So prom is on Thursday and I need to know, tie or bow tie?” he wrote.
“I like the tie but honestly both are great,” she wrote back. “I just feel like you look like a 50’s movie star in the bow tie, but more like a modern movie star in the tie. Depends on what vibe you’re wanting to convey but I’d say the tie. Great suit btw!”
She gives the best gifts and wraps them too.
In what was known as “Swiftmas,” the singer bought, hand-wrapped and sent Christmas and Hanukkah presents to some of her mega-fans last year. Not just any gifts, though. Swift stalked each of the fans’ social media accounts to find out what they really wanted and included a personal note to each.
She helps pay off a fan’s student loans.
Swiftmas was over, but Swift was still giving well into January. In honor of her latest album, “1989,” she sent fan Rebekah Bortnicker a check for $1,989, along with a note that read, “Now you’re $1989 closer to paying off those student loans.”
Also in the package from Swift, 25, was a picture the singer painted herself.
Sometimes, she just shows up.
Sometimes, sending a gift isn’t enough. Swift will actually deliver it in person, like she did in November when she showed up on the doorstep of super-fan Stephanie Barnett’s North Haven, Connecticut, home.
Swift was delivering a pint-size Mercedes, along with other early Christmas presents to Barnett’s 2-year-old son Leyton. Barnett told NBC Connecticut Swift picked up the toys from FAO Schwarz, adding with a laugh, “The car was so big, she’s like, ‘I don’t know how to ship it, so I thought I’d bring it over.’ And I was, like, ‘Who does that?’ It’s incredible.”
