Taylor Swift fans are selling their hard-won tickets, while some are demanding that her “Eras Tour” shows in the UK be postponed over fears of a terrorist attack.
Fans sell tickets, demand show cancellation in UK
London (UK) was scheduled to be the next stop on the Eras Tour after three shows in Vienna (Austria) were cancelled due to a terrorist threat.
On August 8, London Mayor Sadiq Khan confirmed to Sky News that Taylor Swift’s shows will still take place at Wembley Stadium for 5 days, August 15-20, as previously scheduled.

“We have a lot of experience in managing these events. We are never complacent, we have learned a lot from the terrible attack at Manchester Arena (referring to the tragedy at an Ariana Grande concert that killed 23 people, including the attacker, in 2017). I am sure Vienna has its own reasons for cancelling the Taylor Swift concert. We will continue to organise, work closely with the police and ensure that the Taylor Swift concert can take place in London safely… We are an international city, we regularly host major events, we look forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back,” Khan said.
Parents also expressed concern about the potential terrorist threat to Taylor Swift fans: “I don’t feel comfortable with my daughter going. Why risk going if there might be another vigil?”, “I hope they cancel the Wembley show. My daughter has tickets and I don’t want her to go, but she’s an adult so I can’t stop her”…
Others have taken a more pragmatic approach, selling their hard-earned tickets. As of the morning of August 9, ticket resale site Viagogo had sold 839 double tickets for £400-600 ($510-$766).
Meanwhile, Swifties in Austria were left devastated after all three of their long-awaited shows in Vienna were canceled. On August 7, after the announcement from organizers, crowds of fans gathered near the Ernst Happel Stadium to sing Swift’s favorite songs and exchange friendship bracelets.

Behind Taylor Swift’s Silence
Up to now, Taylor Swift has not made any official statement about the terrorist plot or the cancellation of the shows in Austria. However, Daily Mail’s own source revealed that the pop superstar born in 1989 was very shocked by the incident. In this situation, her boyfriend Travis Kelce plays a role as a support to help the beauty regain balance.
“All Travis can do right now is listen and support Taylor because he knows she and her team have handled things to the best of their ability. He’s been there for her whenever he can. She was there for him during the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade shooting and he’s been there for her through these latest unfortunate situations,” the source said.
Page Six sources also confirmed the information. Travis was reportedly worried and immediately contacted Taylor. However, he had no plans to fly to Europe to see his girlfriend because he was in the middle of training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the new NFL season, which is scheduled to begin on September 5.

Despite the shock, Taylor Swift is still looking forward to her London shows and attending Travis’ games.
“Taylor knows she’s a target and she’s accepted that. She refuses to let this diminish what the tour means to her. She’s moving on with her life and is looking forward to London shows and Kansas City Chiefs games this season. It’s shown them both what’s important in life. It’s also a reminder that if they’re ever feeling petty about anything, they should stop and realize how great they are and enjoy life to the fullest,” the insider told the Daily Mail.
Taylor’s tour in the second half of August was previously estimated to have generated around £300 million for London’s economy, thanks to the so-called Swiftonomics effect. The beauty helped the British capital earn $380 million during her previous tour in June.
