According to experts, the mummy is an adult individual, with long hair and an almost intact jaw.
Ms. Ganoza said the mummy discovered probably lived a millennium ago, during the early period of the Ychsma culture that developed on the central coast of modern Peru during a period of social reorganization before humans. Inca arrived in this area.
“This discovery adds to the information we know about the Ychsma culture so far. The Ychsma culture dates back to around 1,000 AD. What’s interesting is that we still find such things in the middle of city, as we can see around and inside a very important ceremonial center at that time,” Ms. Ganoza said.
Many mummies and ancient offerings have been found at the Huaca Pucllana site. Experts view the site as a container with many mysteries waiting to be found.
