Taylor Swift has just finished the European leg of The Eras Tour with 5 “sold out” shows at Wembley Stadium, attracting nearly half a million spectators to the capital London. Although the show ended successfully, the “ghost” of 3 shows being canceled due to terrorism in Vienna (Austria) still remains. Although the terrorist plan was discovered from the beginning, no regrettable incident occurred, but both Taylor Swift’s team and fans suffered heavy losses.
A week after the announcement of the cancellation of the show in Austria, Taylor Swift has not made any official statement. This has disappointed many netizens. Under the organizer’s post, dozens of people questioned the reason why the Fortnight singer remained silent, even criticizing her for being insensitive. Going further, a part of the audience who went to see The Eras Tour also wanted Taylor Swift to speak up about some political and social issues in front of the huge crowds she performed to every night.
As of this morning, Taylor Swift has shared a series of photos of her performing during her five nights at Wembley Stadium. Through it, Taylor Swift also wrote a rather long letter, revealing all her feelings about why she kept quiet after having to cancel her show in Austria.
Speaking about her feelings after the three shows in Austria were cancelled, she said: “ The cancellation of the shows in Vienna was devastating. The reason for the cancellation put me in a whole new state of fear, as well as a huge sense of guilt because so many people had planned to go to those shows (…) I was so happy with the love and solidarity I saw from the fans who came together…”
As for the reason for deciding to stay silent and not speak out, Taylor Swift said that she kept silent to protect the audience at the London show, which had 92,000 spectators each night, and that she waited until the series of nights ended before speaking out for no other reason than that. “I decided that all of my energy had to be focused on protecting the nearly half a million people who came to see my show in London because of me. My team and I have been working together with the stadium staff and the British government every day to pursue that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they have done for us.
LET ME BE CLEAR: I wouldn’t talk about something publicly if I thought doing so might provoke people who wanted to harm the fans who came to see my shows! In cases like this, “silence” is really about showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at the right time. My priority was to finish the European tour safely and it’s a relief to be able to say we did that.

“Finally,
We have officially concluded the European leg of The Eras Tour. Along with it came the most passionate crowds I have ever played to, new show traditions and a whole new era added to the mix. (….)
Walking on stage in London was a rollercoaster of emotions. The cancellation of the Vienna shows was devastating. The reason for the cancellation put me in a whole new state of fear, as well as a huge sense of guilt that so many people had planned to see those shows. Thank you to the agencies that made it possible for the concerts to go on without lives being threatened. I was overwhelmed by the love and solidarity I saw from the fans who came together…”

And then London was like a beautiful dream sequence. All year the crowd at Wembley Stadium exploded with passion, joy and exhilaration. The energy in that stadium was like a giant hug of 92,000 people every night, and it took me back to that carefree peace up there.”
